2010-2019 is the warmest decade on record. On the current path of carbon dioxide emissions, the global temperature is expected to increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius by the end of century. To avoid the worst of warming (maximum °C rise), the world will need to decrease fossil fuel production by roughly 6 per cent per year between 2020 and 2030.
In 1950 the world emitted 6 billion tonnes of CO2. By 1990 this had almost quadrupled to 22 billion tonnes. Emissions have continued to grow rapidly; we now emit over 36 billion tonnes each year. Emissions growth has slowed over the last few years, but they have yet to reach their peak.

The NOAA GML Carbon Cycle Group computes global mean surface values using measurements of weekly air samples from the Cooperative Global Air Sampling Network [Conway et al., 1994; Dlugokencky et al., 1994; Novelli et al., 1992; Trolier et al., 1996].Global values can be computed for nearly all trace gas species and stable isotopes routinely measured by GML and the University of …

Global warming potential (GWP) is the heat absorbed by any greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, as a multiple of the heat that would be absorbed by the same mass of carbon dioxide (CO 2).GWP is 1 for CO other gases it depends on the gas and the time frame.. Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 e or CO 2 eq or CO 2-e) is calculated from can be measured in weight or concentration.
